Too bad

Setting: Dad is pouring oatmeal from the cooking dish to a bowl for Emma. He gets some on his hand. He goes to the sink to wash it off.
Emma: "Dad, what happened?"
Dad: "I got oatmeal on my hand. I had to wash it off."
Emma: "Ohhh, that's too bad."
and as if to clarify...
Emma: "Ohhh, that's too bad for your hand."
