Setting: Emma has an itch but we are in the middle of bedtime prayers.
Mom: "Emma, don't itch. You just have to persevere."
Emma: "What's persevere?"
Mom: "Max, do you know what persevere is?"
Max: "It means you have to keep on keepin' on even when things are tough."
